About Me

I have a desire to move from the periphery of political knowledge more towards the center ... maybe not to the core, but at least more towards the center, to become better informed and gain an understanding of the framework of our government. I have no political influences nor experiences. I've always shied away from politics, partly because I didn't understand enough, but also because extremism has made it uninviting. Lately, though, my desire to bridge that gap has grown. My political ideology is Next Generation Left. I scored 6 out of 10 on the civics quiz and 9 out of 12 on current events, but since some weren’t answered with confidence, I know I have work to do. I’m often in the middle, usually able to see value in all sides of an argument. I’ve spent the majority of my time being dedicated to a very fulfilling career and raising five children (yes, I did say five). I'm a lifelong learner and am ready to expand my knowledge in this area. Have you ever laughed when comedians or talk show hosts poll people on the streets about their knowledge of politics or current events? Yeah, I don't want to be one of those dummies. I look forward to learning in this class.
